JANUARY ACTIVITY

 


  1. First, we read the storybook titled Boy+Bot to our students. The book was available on YouTube as a read-aloud. Here is the link to the story: Boy+Bot on YouTube.

  2. After reading the story, we had a discussion with our students about fairy tales. We asked them to brainstorm by answering the question: If you were to write a story, who would the characters be, and where and when would the story take place? We collected their suggestions and wrote them down on post-its. We also encouraged our students to draw their stories.



We signed up as teachers on the Whimsy website. In the free version of the site, we had the right to create up to 5 stories per month. Each teacher created a story with their own class. After signing up, we selected the age group of our students and gave our profile a name.

Based on the notes gathered during the brainstorming session, we created one story for our class. By entering keywords and providing information about the type of story we wanted in the Whimsy app, it generated a story for our class. Additionally, we uploaded images of the drawings made by our students to the site and requested that they be incorporated into the story as well.

We read the story created for our class to our students. We also asked them to draw pictures related to the story they listened to. Finally, we took screenshots of the pages of the story and uploaded them to our Padlet.
